Mobile Communications - Korean Mobile Services Grows in May 2005

The Korean mobile communications market saw its number of subscribers in May 2005 increase by 170,000, sequential growth of 35%. SK Telecom added 442,361 new subscribers in May, while 366.551 subscribers ended their accounts. This meant that its total number of subscribers grew by 75,810 to a total of 19,136,262. Also, SK Telecom officially started its satellite DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) services in May, for which the company has already attracted 60.000 subscribers.

 

KTF managed to attract 366,882 new subscribers, but at the same time lost 305,063, which meant a net increase of 61,819 to 12,109,275 subscribers.

218,955 new subscribers joined LG Telecom and 184,548 ended their accounts. This signified an increase by 34,407 to a total of 6,160,112 subscribers.
